[1933] Funeral services were held from Betheny Methodist church, Purcellville, Friday afternoon for Oscar F. Pierce, well-known and highly esteemed resident of that town. Services were conducted by the Rev. George Hasel and interment made in Union Cemetery. Mr. Pierce who was 79 years of age died suddenly at his home in Purcellville on the night of March 30. While a native of Winchester, Mr. Pierce had resided in Purcellville for many years. His first wife, formerly Miss Elizabeth Brown, died in 1930. Shortly before her death they had celebrated their fifty-fifth wedding anniversary. His second wife, several grandchildren, and a large number of nieces and nephews survive him.
