They spent their first year in Cheney, WA where Larry was in his 5th year of college. That December he developed a strange illness, aspergillus, and had surgery on his neck to remove the growths peculiar to the disease. On 2 February 1958 he was taken to Deaconess Hospital in Spokane, WA where he had more surgery. When he died on the 12th, the primary cause of death was cancer of the lungs.
