Actor. Born Jay Storch to Alfred Storch (a realtor born in Russia) and Sally Kupperman (a telephone operator born in New York), started out as a stand-up comedian on television's "Colgate Comedy Hour" and "Toast of the Town" in the early 1950s. His big break came in 1953 when he landed the role of Bagradian in the Oscar-winning Billy Wilder film "Stalag 17", in which he played a new prisoner who in civilian life entertained people with movie star impressions. Lawrence's acting career spanned from 1950 to 1979, and included appearances on such TV shows as "Bachelor Father", "Sergeant Preston of the Yukon", "Mike Hammer", "Peter Gunn", "Dragnet", "Get Smart", and "Mayberry R.F.D.". He was the younger brother of actor Larry Storch of "F-Troop" fame. (bio by: Retaggio)
