2nd Baron and Lord Badlesmere.

Giles was the only son of Bartholomew Badlesmere and Margaret de Clare, grandson of Guncelin Badlesmere, Sir Thomas de Clare and Juliana FitzMaurice. He was baptised at St. Andrew's Church, Hambleton, Rutland.

Giles married Lady Elizabeth Montagu, the daughter of daughter of William Montagu, 1st Earl of Salisbury and Catherine Grandison. They were married after February 1328, but produced no issue by the time he died, aged only twenty four.

His mother had refused to allow the evil Queen Isabella access to Leeds Castle during a pilgrimage thought to be purposeful baiting on Isabelle's part, and the Despenser War was on. The King sent Margaret and her children to the Tower of London, and Giles's father joined to rebellion against the king led by Thomas of Lancaster in retaliation, resulting in Bartholomew's gruesome death being hanged, drawn and quartered. The year was 1322 and Giles was just seven years old.

When Giles turned fourteen, he as able to obtain a reversal of the attainder and became the 2nd Baron Badlesmere. In 1335 he accompanied Edward III on an expedition to Scotland, and was engaged in the war for three years. He was summoned to Parliament from 22 January 1336 to 18 August 1337.

His will dated 4 December 1337 was probated on 20 June 1338 at Lincoln, Lincolnshire. His estate included extensive holdings in London, Kent and Ireland and thirteen other counties, was distributed between his widow and four sisters, all of which had married well, but his title fell into abeyance.

Elizabeth would marry Hugh le Despenser and Sir Guy de Bryan.
