G. N. AKEMAN DIED ABOUT MIDNIGHT--Well Known Stockman Victim of Pneumonia--Funeral Sunday Afternoon--

George Newton Akeman died at his home 801 North Eight street at 11:55 last night of pneumonia. Funeral services will be held at the Christian Church at 2 o'clock in the afternoon. Burial will follow in the Columbia cemetery. Mr. Akeman, who was born in Boone county November 8, 1863 and was in his 56th year at the time of his death. He is survived by his wife, and one son, Brown Akeman of Audrain county and two daughters, Mrs. Shannon Palmer of this county and Mrs. B. F. Elly of South Dakota. Six grandchildren also survive. Mrs. Jessie Englage of Columbia and Mrs. Ed Wilhite of Midway are sisters of the deceased. Mr. Akeman was for many years the best known stock shipper in Boone county. Eighteen months ago he went to St. Louis and was with the National Live Stock Commission Company for a year. At the expiration of that time he with W. A. Bright organized the Bright/Akeman Live Stock Commission Company, and while Mr. Akeman had been ill every since the new business opened, his name and his reputation for honesty and square dealing has been no small contributing factor to the success of the Bright/Akeman company. For the last four months Mr. Akeman has been confined to the Parker Hospital. Early in the fall his life was despaired of but he rallied and for weeks his friends had hoped of his ultimate recovery but pneumonia following this ailment which contributed to his decline earlier became his --??--. Mr. Akeman was a member of Twilight Lodge 114 and his funeral will be conducted at 11 o'clock Sunday morning at the home. Burial will be in the Columbia cemetery.

FUNERAL OF G. N. AKEMAN HELD SUNDAY--

The funeral of G. N. Akeman who died at his home on North Eighth street Thursday night was conducted at the First Christian church Sunday afternoon, Revs, A. W. Pasley and M. A. Hart. The active pall bearers were M. A. Bright, T. H. Armstrong, E. M. Neeley, Murry Howell, Forest Kennett, L. T. Searcy, Pleas Wright and J. W. Schwabe. The honorary pallbearers were M. A. Bright Jr, T. F. Heller, R. B Price Jr, A. G. Spencer, L. P. Stephens and H. C. Frazier. The floral offering were many and spoke mutely of the high esteem in which the deceased was held by friends in St. Louis, Columbia and Centralia. The service at the grave side under the auspices of Twilight Lodge A. F. & A. M. 114 of which the deceased was a member for many years.
