Scholastic was born in France in 1839 to Joseph Gladioux and Emilie La Sage. He was born in 1817.
She married Daniel Sullivan Ellington on December 20, 1855 at Holy Trinity Catholic Church in St. Louis, Missouri. (he age 32, she age 17) They were married for 40 years and had 7 children. Henry William, John Thomas (twins), Peter Franklin, Joseph A., Daniel, Philadelphia and Richard.
In 1860 Daniel and wife Celeste lived in St. Ferdinand Township and he was working as a laborer. They had twin boys, John Thomas and Henry William age 2 years. (they were the only Ellington's in St. Louis at this time)
In 1863 her husband was a farmer in Columbia Bottom Road, 9 Sub District, St. Ferdinand Township.
In 1870 Daniel was working as a laborer. Peter age 9, Daniel age 2 and Philadelphia age 3 months were added to the family. Her name was listed as Catalick. This is still the same person.
1877-78-79 They lived at Bellefontaine Road & Withers Avenue.
1887-88 Daniel was a Laborer, living at 1403 N. Leffingwell Ave.
In 1880 Daniel and Colastic's family were living in St. Clair County, Illinois, Third Ward, East St. Louis, he was a hotel keeper and little Daniel was no longer listed but Richard age 7 was. They took in lodgers and she did the cooking.
1889-90 He worked in a Shooting Gallery and lived at 2805 N. 21st St., St. Louis.
1891-92 Worked in a Shooting Gallery and lived at 2018 N. Broadway.
1895 Worked as a Laborer and lived at 3734 N. 21st St.
Scholastic always stayed home as a home maker and raised the children. When Daniel was a hotel keeper in Illinoise she did the cooking for the lodgers.
On January 29, 1896 at age 57, she died. She is buried in Calvary Cemetery. Section 16, Lot 000L, Grave 200. There is no stone.
