William E. Blackmon is my Great Uncle. He was an WW2 Army U.S. Veteran.
I don't know much about his life, since I don't have pictures or anyone to talk to about my Great-uncle Bill. I asked my mama a few questions, and she told me he died in VA hospital in Texas after a long battle with bone cancer. I have a copy of his death certificate and the name of the street the VA hospital is located on is called "Doris St." I was taken aback, my "name" the street "name". I saw that as a sign, that he is pleased to know that someone in the family cares about his soul. I put in a photo request, for his grave marker, I got allot of this grave could not be located. I thought, mabe he did not have a grave marker or worst I thought his final resting place was "disturbed". My Great Uncle Bill, from what I gathered is not laid to rest in a nice place - Ross cemetery (The Colored Section), I think the colored section is in the process of being cleaned up. I read that it was being used as a dumpsite. It broke my heart to hear that. I'm very thankful for the Find-A-Grave member who located his grave marker and took a photo (I know that was not easy to do). To have a picture of his grave marker is enough for me. I pray that his soul is at rest. God bless you Great-uncle Bill you are not forgotten.

Ross Cemetery is what they call a "colored" cemetery. If you try to find it on the map you will go down Old Mill Road and make a left after the second bend. Unfortunately, Old Mill Road no longer matches the maps. The only way to find this cemetery is to drive the perimeter of Pecan Grove Memorial Park. We found a place where the iron fence had been removed. A grown over dirt road leads back into the woods. Yes, it's dark and scary. But you find the grown over Ross Cemetery.
If I were ever going to believe a place was haunted, this would be it. It's super creepy. You get a weird vibe there. We were there right at sundown. Orange light was filtering through the threes surrounding the cemetery. I've read some creepy things about going's here. Ghost hunters said some of their group refuse to go in. And they've picked up EVP's of voices telling them to get out.
