Phyllis Ann Heidepriem was born in Hawarden Iowa, in 1928. Phyllis attended a one room school house near her family farm in South Dakota, moving on to high school in Hawarden, Iowa. She graduated from The University of South Dakota in 1950, and married Donald Heidepriem from Custer, South Dakota. They had three sons, Mark, Eric and Kurt before migrating to Arroyo Grande.

Phyllis completed her teaching credential and master's degree in Education from Cal Poly San Luis Obispo before embarking on a teaching career that lasted 30 years, all for Lucia Mar Unified Schools. Her love for children, laughter, and travel balanced her life.

Phyllis is survived by sons, Mark (Jeanne) and Kurt (Denise); and grandsons, Eric, Craig, Spencer and Alex. Phyllis was preceded in death by son Eric; and husband Donald. A private family service was held at the Arroyo Grande Cemetery.
