Obituary: Adam Croco, one of the first settlers and oldest men in the county, died at his home, one mile east of Argos, last thursday night, August 11, 1881, at 10 O'clock. He came to Marshall county 37 years ago, and by energy and industry became one of the wealthiest farmers in the county. He was twice married, and his last wife survives him. He had ten or twelve children, to each of whom he gave 160 acres of land. Only 3 of the children now own the land given them in this county. These are Henry Croco, Mrs B.C. Bowell and Mrs Montgomery of Toledo, Ohio. The others have removed from the county, and most of them reside in distant states. Mr Croco was known and respected by as large a circle of aquaintances as any man in the country. Though 85 yrs old, his death at this time was unexpected. He retired thursday night, feeling as well as usual. A few minutes before 10 o'clock he told his wife he was very sick, and in less than 30 minutes he was dead. The remains were interred at the argos cemetary in the presence of a large concourse of neighbors and friends.
