after a long illness with dropsy, complicated with heart toruble judge delos woodruff died at his home at euchre creek, march 25,1908,and was buried the next day at the cemetery on his place.
judge woodruff was born sept.30,1834 in aurora, erie co.,new york, and came to california in the early days.he was a soldier of the civil war, enlisting in california, and served on this coast, and drew a pension at the time of his death.he was afterwards a member of the police force at san francisco, until 1874,when he located at gold beach in curry county oregon, and engaged for a while in the mercantile business and in 1875 was elected judge of curry county for one term.in 1878 he bought the splendid farm on euchre creek, where he died.
in many ways judge woodruff was a noted man having social qualities, tireless enegery, and much ability.he was industrious, liberal and public spitited, believing in progressive farming, better stock, and better home.being a man of strong opinions,he never tried to travel the smoothest road, and if he sometimes stumbled,it was only an human act which we have all performed, and it is not for us to strike the balance on the life of any man.
to his sorrowing widow and other relatives the tribune extends its sincere sympathy, and hopes they will accept this inevitable loss, with philosophy and resignation;for he had lived beyond the limit of "three score and ten" when death comes as a relief.
