Lavernia, Tex., July 11.-A telephone message came to this place yesterday about noon from Houston, stating that Mr. Edwin Fly was seriously ill and not expected to live, and telling his wife to come at once. About three hours afterward another message came saying that Mr. Fly was dead and the body would be shipped to San Antonio for burial.
Mr. Fly's wife and children were here with her father, Major John T. Montgomery. They left on the first train for San Antonio after hearing the sad news.
Mr. Fly was born and raised in Gonzales, where he has a large number of relatives and friends. Mr. Fly has the sympathy of the entire community in her great affliction.
The funeral of the late Edwin M. Fly took place from the Westminister Presbyterian church on Garden St. Saturday afternoon. After the services of the church had been performed by Rev. Hudson, the funeral proceeded to City cemetery No. 1, where the interment was made under the auspices of the Alamo Masonic Lodge. The last rites were attended by many friends. The Pall bearers were Dr. J. V. Spring, C. M. Stone, E. Hertzberg, Joseph Ryan, R. B. Craig, and James Anderson. -San Antonio Express.
Mr. Fly was raised in Gonzales and moved from Gonzales many years ago. He is a brother of Judge W. S. Fly.
