Born in Pemberton, a son of Maurice and Sarah (Haines) Fort, he was the husband of Alice H. (Kellenbenz) Fort for 58 years.
A Korean War U.S. Army staff sergeant, he was a career firefighter at McGuire Air Force Base, retiring in 1984 as assistant chief.
A life member and former chief of Good Will Fire Co., Pemberton, Ken was a proud charter member of Pemberton Borough Exempt Firemen's Association and Masonic Lodge 199 Free and Accepted Masons, Pemberton. Retiring in Ephrata, he joined Reamstown Fire Co. and served with the fire police. He was also a member of Ephrata American Legion.
He was an avid golfer, gardener, Phillies and Eagles fan, and loved traveling and spending winters in Bushnell, Fla., for the past 10 years.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by a son, Paul Fort (Margaret) of Yardville; daughter, Marcy Sumoski (John) of Center Valley, Pa.,; grandchildren, Joshua Sumoski (Amy) of Somerville, N.J., Matthew Sumoski of Whitehall, Sarah Sumoski of Gloucester, Va., Kim Arena of Hamilton, N.J., and Shon MacPherson of Browns Mills; great-grandchildren, Owen Sumoski, Shon, Mike, Daniel, Cody, Seth, and Shane MacPherson; brothers, Joseph and Donald (Beverlee) Fort ; sister, Doris Croshaw (Paul); and nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by brother, Maurice Fort and his wife, Vivian; sister, Elizabeth Hopkins and her husband, Leon; sister-in-law Evelyn Fort, and nephew, David Fort.
Memorial service will be held at 1 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 17, Pemberton United Methodist Church, 45 Hanover St., Pemberton. Private inurnment will be held in Brig. Gen. William Doyle Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Wrightstown.
