Harry and Elizabeth Bettis came to Olney in 1932 from Brownwood and her husband, Harry managed the Central Texas Ice Company. The couple bought the business in 1935 and renamed the company Bettis Ice Company.
Mrs. Bettis sold the Bettis Ice Company, which she had operated since the death of her husband, in 1953. The ice company's name was changed to Olney Ice Company. She moved to Graham in 1962 from Olney. Mrs. Bettis was a retired school teacher and librarian. She received her master's degree from the University of North Texas. Mrs. Bettis was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Graham.
Survived by two sons - Harry M. Bettis and Zack F Bettis; one daughter - Ann B Enlow; three sisters - Jo Wimberly, Maude Shaw and Blanche Johnson; eight grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren.
