Services for Claude Mayes, 64, were held at the First Baptist Church officiated by Rev. Lowrance. Mr. Mayes had made his home in Young County, Texas nearly all of his life. He was a farmer in the Newcastle area.
Survived by his wife; three sons - Willie Mayes, Claudie Mayes, Bueford Mayes; one daughter - Mrs. Charlie Hearne; three brothers - Lacy Mayes, Charlie Mayes and Rev. Joe K Mayes; two sisters - Mrs. Will Wash and Mrs. Joe Cross.
