P. L. Bartlett, a retired farmer, died early Tuesday, January 15, at his home, following a short illness. He was 85 years of age. Mr. Bartlett had been a resident of the area 68 years, coming from Wise county. Phillip Leroy Bartlett was born July 27, 1877 in Tennessee.
He was a member of the Methodist Church, and during all of his active life here, he engaged in farming. Since his retirement, Mr. Bartlett had lived in town.
Surviving are his wife, Mrs. Eva Bartlett of the home; three sons, Esdel Bartlett, Ozro Bartlett and Milton Bartlett; a step-son and step-daughter, W. M. Williams and Mrs. Pearl Aaron, all living in Wellington. There are 12 grandchildren and 21 great-grandchildren.
