MRS. MAX M. EBLE, 78, died at 7:45 A.M. Wednesday at Norton Memorial Infirmary. She lived at 2024 Tyler Lane. Mrs. Eble was the former Susan Elizabeth "Bessie" Mattingly, a native of Louisville and member of an old Kentucky family. Her father, Bennett D. Mattingly, and grandfather, J. G. Mattingly, were owners of the old J. G. Mattingly & Son distillery here. Her husband, Dr. Max M. Eble, died in 1940. She was a member of the Queen's daughters and the Altar Societies of St. Raphael and St. Louis Bertrand Catholic Churches. Surviving are sons, Louis B. Eble, Detroit, and Maurice J. Eble; daughters, Mrs. Josephine Spann, Far Hills, N. J., and Mrs. Blix Moriarty and Mrs. Jane Miles; brothers, J. Banks Mattingly, Newark, N. J., and J. Gill Mattingly; sisters, Mrs. Monica M. Phelan, Honolulu; Mrs. R. S. Tatum, and Miss Aline C. Mattingly; 16 grandchildren, and 16 great-grandchildren. The funeral will be Friday at 8:30 A.M. from Pearson's, 1310 S. Third, and at 9 A.M. at St. Louis Bertrand Church. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery. The family requests that expressions of sympathy take the form of contributions to the Heart Fund.
