John Aloysius Madl was born on March 16,1860 near the city of Munich, in the Province of Bavaria, Germany; he was one of ten children born to John Madl and Antonia Kellerman Madl.
When John A. was eitht years old his parents with the family emigrated to the United States of America. After landing at New York, the Madl family proceeded to Eudora, Kansas where they settled on a farm. (1868)
John met and married Teresa ( Molly) Schoenhofer; the marriage was solemnized in Eudora's Holy Family Church on October 30,1882.
John and Mollie celebrated their Golden Weddina Anniversary on Oct 30, 1932 at St. Francis Church, St. Paul, Kansas. The Rev. Ferdinand Madl, C.P. ( thier son, George) officiated at the Solemn Jubilee Mass and Rev. Leo Scheibel. C.P. delivered the Jubilee Sermon.
On December 24, 1940 the Rev. Ferdinand Madl, C.P. celebrated the Solemn Funeral Mass at St. Francis Church and John was laid to rest in St. Francis Cemetery at St. Paul. The Rev. Leo Scheibel, C.P. delivered the Funeral oration.
The Active Pallbearers were: John Schoenhofer, Jr., W.W. Graves, E.A. George, P.H. Dowd, Ray Grillot and L.A. Smith. Honorary pallbearers were: Geral Jennings, B.B. Fitzsimmons, Ed Schoenhofer, Henry Sevart, J.H. Siemer and Ferd David
