William Becker is Death Victim

Owner of Bottling Company Succumbs Suddenly; Rights Tuesday

Funeral services will be held on Tuesday at Nine a.m at the Cathedral of the Immaculate Conception for William Becker, With the Rev. Joseph Wurm as celebrant of the requiem high mass.

Mr. Becker passed away at 1:15 p.m. Saturday, at the age of 77, death being caused by an embolism. He succumbed at the local hospital where he had been taken Saturday morning after he became suddenly ill.

The body will be taken from the Norman Funeral Home to the Becker residence, 707 North Broadway, at four p.m. today and will lie in state there until the funeral hour. Members of the Knights of Columbus will meet at the home at eight p.m. for the Rosary and members of the order, as well as of the Eagles Lodge, will attend the funeral services tomorrow in a body.

Mr. Becker was born in Barden, Germany, September 2, 1862 and came to the United States in 1880, settling at Alma, Wisconsin. Later he moved to Nelson Wisconsin and was post master there for several years before coming to Crookston in 1905. He joined his brothers, Joseph and the late John Becker in the Queen City Bottling company here in 1905 and continued in the operation of that business until his death.

Surviving are his widow, two daughters, Wilma and Linda of Crookston and a brother Joseph of Thief River Falls.

Mrs. Becker was a member and past grand knight of the Knights of Columbus lodge, a member of the Eagles Lodge and trustee of that order for the past 28 years, and a member of the Woodman Lodge. He had served on the city council for several years in the early 1920's.
