Robert removed to Alaska in 1957 and was an attorney for the Veteran's Administration, and soon became a staff member of the Office of the Attorney General. At the time of his death he was a partner in a private law firm at Juneau. In a Legislative Resolve (Number 71, dated 1977) Robert was recognized by the State of Alaska for the esteem held for him by the Alaska legal community.
