She was born on Feb. 7, 1941, in Albany, Mo., to Malcolm Martin Barger and Helen Elizabeth Costello Barger.
Cherry was preceded in death by her husband, Charlie Brown, and her parents. Survivors include her children, Jaye Knott and husband Charles of Corsicana, David Stevens and wife Sue of Hobbs, N.M., and Randy Stevens of Lubbock; nine grandchildren and a number of great-grandchildren. She is also survived by her brother, John Barger of Corsicana; and many friends with the American Legion Ladies Auxiliary.
No public services are planned and a private burial will take place at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society to the attention of Lung Cancer Research.
