William first married Sarah E. Wick (b.1839, d.1878) and they had 7 children they named: James Wilbert, William Ellsworth, Eli Fergus, Volney Andrew, Laura B, Margarette L, Mary Julia and Harry H Hutchison.

After the death of Sarah Wick in 1878, William married Sarah C. McCamment and they had a daughter they named: Maggie Arletta Hutchison.

Later in his life he married again to a Martha Mercer and they didn't have any children. His date of death recorded in WPA records and "Aged" info in his Obit's BIO.

Enlisted 1862 Co B 71st Indiana. August 30, 1862 was wounded and captured at the Battle of Richmond Kentucky. After parole he was discharged due to wounds Dec. 23, 1863.

You will notice in the obituary it refers to the 71st Indiana as cavalry. The unit originally was organized as infantry but but sometime in late 1863 it was reorganized and became the 6th Indiana Cavalry. The whole time William George Hutchison/Hutchinson was active in the unit though it was infantry.
