2nd Lieutenant Turvey was the pilot of U.S. Army Air Corps B-24E Liberator #41-28463. He served with the 461st Bomb Group, 765th Bomb Squadron. While on a training flight out of Hammer Field, Fresno, California, the bomber crashed in Kings Canyon National Park. The plane and it's crew of six were missing until the wreck was discovered by geologists on July 17, 1960.
