Sister M. Reparata Callan of the Congregation of Sisters, Servants of the Immaculate Heart of Mary, died Sunday morning at the Marian Convent after an illness.
She was born on November 28, 1904 in Altoona, PA, and given the name Pauline M. She was daughter of the late William A. and Mary Ann Sisk Callan. She entered the IHM Congregation on January 6, 1928, was received into the novitiate on August 15, 1928, and made profession of her vows on August 2, 1930.
As a nurse, Sister Reparata served on the staffs of IHM health care facilities for many years. Her assignments included St. Joseph's Hospital, Carbondale; St. Joseph's Center, Scranton; the Catholic Child Care Center, Hollidaysburg; and the Marian Convent, home for retired Sisters. During several intervals, Sister taught religion at catechetical centers in Connecticut; and in Wellsboro, Kingston and Montrose, Pennsylvania. Retirement at the Marian Convent began in 1982.
Survivors include two brothers, Rual G. Callan of Sun City, Arizona, and Reverend Thomas Callan, T.O.R. of Ehrenfeld, Pennsylvania. A sister, Eunette Callan, preceded her in death.
The funeral will be Thursday with Mass of Christian Burial at 10:30 a.m. in the Marian Convent chapel. Interment will be at Saint Catherine's Cemetery, Moscow, Pennsylvania.
Friends may call at the Marian Convent Wednesday afternoon or evening.
