The 389th BG along with groups of the 2nd Bomb Division participated on a mission to destroy marshaling yards near Hamm Germany. According to the " Mighty Eighth War Diary" on the night time return leg Luftwaffe fighters infiltrated the formations and attacked over England and in some cases bombing bases. One 389th bomber crash landed at Hethel and destroyed a signals hut killing the men inside but with no casualties to the crew. Another B24 was shot down at Cantley England no other information provided, most likely the 42-109915 crew is this crew lost over Cantly. USAAF Data lists 6 names KIA associated with this B24.
