Ivanhoe, NC - Josephus "Joe" Parker, Jr. age 73, passed away Monday, September 21, 2009. Joe was born July 31, 1936 in Wilson County, NC to the late Josephus Derward Parker, Sr. and Mary Wright Parker.
Joe is survived by his daughter, Mary Lou Church, and husband Keith of Wilkesboro; sons, Doug Parker of Raleigh, Josephus "Woody" Derward Parker, III., and wife Tammy of Mooresville; sister, Mary Wright Pittman of Atlantic Beach; half sister, Sara Parker of Minneapolis, MN; half brothers, Alton Parker, and wife Michelle of Wrightsville Beach, Tommy Parker, and wife Linda of Warsaw; grandchildren, Alex Parker, Holly Church, and Parker Church; and Joes significant other in life, Elizabeth Dodd of Ivanhoe, NC.
Mr. Parker was a member of the Sons of Confederate Veterans; where he was still very active.
Visitation will be 11:00 to 12:30 PM Friday, September 25, 2009 at Thomas-Yelverton Funeral Home; with funeral precession to follow to Cedar Grove Cemetery in Elm City for a 1:00 PM graveside service.
Arrangements are entrusted to Thomas-Yelverton at Evergreen Memorial Park 2704 Nash Street North, Wilson, NC 27896.
