Sarah Bailey Adams was born the beautiful daughter of Mary Ann Bailey and John Vorley Adams. Sarah was confirmed 8 Aug 1880 by Joseph Smith and baptized by R. W. Hayborn.

Sarah grew up on her father's ranch on Cedar Mountain called "Three Creeks" and there she had many experiences. Her childhood was a happy one with a home full of brothers and sisters and there was always plenty of excitement. She enjoyed learning Indian names and their language when she was a small girl.

She had many happy years of married life with the man she loved more than life itself. She married Thomas Charles Stapley on 8 Jun 1890 in Cedar City, Iron County, Utah.

They were parents of eleven children: Five boys and six girls. Her oldest son was fell from a tree onto a rock on Cedar Mountain and was killed, George Bryant Adams Stapley age 11 years. Then two small daughters, Leta Caroline Stapley, 3 years old and Veda Rebecca Stapley, 1 year old, died of scarlet fever within 24 hours of each other. Violet Stapley, another beautiful daughter died at age 11, of diphtheria. She lost a one month old son named Thomas LeRoy Adams Stapley, died from whooping cough. Their other children: Orley Adams Stapley, Arthur Frank Stapley, Mary Ann Stapley, Leona Stapley, Ruth Lydia Stapley, Norman Adams Stapley.

War broke out in 1914, both her boys had to go yet Sarah didn't complain, she just prayed to God and never gave up hope. The war ended and both Orley Adams Stapley her second son and Arthur Frank Stapley came home.

Thomas died in 1934. It is unclear, but when Sarah was in her 60's she had gotten pneumonia and or had a stroke and the blood in the vein in her left leg clotted, gangrene set in, they had to amputated it above the knee leaving only a stub and she spent a year in the hospital. For some time she lived with using a crutch. She wanted desperately to live until she had her work done in the LDS Temple and she completed her life's ambition.

Sarah had a stroke about 4 or 5 years later, then about 3 or 4 days later she died in her living room.
....she had blue eyes and brown hair. She was cheerful with a good disposition and a pleasant face. She is honest and religious and a sincere woman. Willing to help anyone in need. Is a noble woman in every way. Is bright, intelligent and a very hard working woman doing her best to raise her children right, and to set them an example worthy of imitation.
