William Beck was the son of Jacob & Susan (Wise) Beck. He served as a Pvt, and later was elected 2nd Sgt, with the Co A, 18th AL Infantry in the Civil War. After the war William relocated to Texas and settled in Colorado County where he met and married Sarah Elizabeth Pettway "Pettie" Ingram in 1870. Pettie's parents were Benjamin Thomas "BT" and Sarah Jane "Sallie" (Cone) Ingram. William and Pettie were the parents of 10 children (one baby died at birth) all born in Colorado County, TX. William along with his father-in-law and brothers-in-law, Hamilton, Obenhaus, Willard and Ingram, moved in covered wagons to Collingsworth County, TX. In 1903 several families moved to Roosevelt County NM near Floyd.
Their children were named Myrtilla, William T., Ernest T., Stanley, Effie V., Donie, Stephen, Mable, Lindsay.
