Gratiot County Biographical book shows Walter Graham was a farmer in Bethany Twp., Gratiot Co., MI and was the son of William K. and Margaret Graham. His father passed in the spring of 1883 in Lowell, Kent co., MI. He ws born in England on June 17, 1843 and at the age of 9, his family emigrated to Canada. and five years later moved onto Lowell, Kent Co., Mich where both his parents died. He came to Gratiot Co in the fall of 1864 and purchased4 acres. In the following spring of March 30, 1865, he married Mary E. Adams who was from Ohio. From this union, ten children were born. George W., John W., Ida M., Jay W., Frank I., Fred, Edna M., Henry, Mary D., and Margaret D. (Mary D. and Margaret D. were twins). After 8 years of farming, he went into partnership with George J. Acker and his brother, Charles B. Graham in the manufacturing of sash, doors, and blinds for 7 years and was successful. He was in the furniture business for 6 years, sold out and then went into business with his brother, Charles B. Graham in the grocery trade in St. Louis, MI. After his brother's death, he returned to farming with 120 acres of land and 45 acres of cultivating. He and his wife were members of the Presbyterian Church.

Bolton (England), male, white, married, farmer, married at age 22, parent of 10 children 9 living, born June 17, 1843 England and passed away on January 20, 1903 in Bethany Twp., Gratiot Co., MI at the age of 59 years 7 months and 3 days, cause of death Endocarditis. Burial was on January 22, 1903 in St. Louis Cemetery, St. Louis, MI.
