Carmon Frances Fountain, 87, a 36 year resident of Waco, passed away Saturday, Feb. 20, 2010, at her residence. Services will be 2 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 23, at OakCrest Funeral Home, with burial at Oakwood Cemetery. Visitation will be 1 to 2 p.m. Tuesday, prior to the service.

Carmon was born in Liberty, Texas, to the late Mr. and Mrs. A. H. Stephenson. Carmon graduated from Liberty High School and attended a business college in Beaumont. After attending business college, she returned to worked in the tax office in the Liberty courthouse. On Mar. 14, 1941, she married W. T. Fountain of Kountze, Texas. Carmon and W. T. Fountain had four children; Hugh Thomas, Janet May, Mark William and Melba Frances. Carmon was a youth counselor at the United Methodist Church in Belton for 18 years; she also worked for many years with the Women's Society of Christian Service. In 1972, Carmon and W. T. moved to Waco and became active members of the Austin Avenue United Methodist Church.

Carmon is survived by her husband, W. T. Fountain; son, Mark Fountain, of Golden, Colo.; and daughters, Janet Kennedy, of Glen Rose, and Melba Kattner and husband, Rick, of Camano Island, Wash.; numerous other family members and many friends.
