Sergeant Barone, a graduate of Mount Morris High School in 1937 enlisted in the U.S. Army Air Forces on March 21, 1941, and was sent to Maxwell Field, Ala where he became an airplane mechanic. Later he applied for an aviator student course and was sent to Cuero Texas, where he received his primary training. His basic training was received at Curtiss Field, Brady Texas, and he received his wings at graduation from the U.S. Army Air Corps Training School at Kelly Field, Texas with the promotion to staff sergeant pilot.
After spending several days with Mount Morris relatives, Sergeant Barone left here May 28 for his new station at Kellogg Field, Battle Creek, Mich.
Besides his father, Charles Barone, he leaves two sisters, Mrs. Amos J. Ippolito of Naples, and Mrs. Samuel Bonadonna of Nunda, and two brothers, Frank and James Barone, both of Mount Morris.
