Ovid was woking for the highway department fixing roads when one of the machines broke down. While he was underneath the machine trying to repair it, one of his co-workers was going to play a "joke" on Ovid and let the bars down towards him. However, the brake released and the bar fell on Ovid. He lived several days afterward, but due to the extent of his injuries, he died.
