Adela Cavazos Lara, 79, of Itasca passed away Monday, February 15, 2010, at her residence. Rosary was recited Wednesday night, February 17, 2010, at Clayton Kay-Vaughan Funeral Home Chapel in Itasca. Funeral services were held at 11 a.m. Thursday February 18, 2010, at the funeral home. Burial was at Itasca Cemetery. Pallbearers were grandsons, Mike Martinez III, David Olvera, Brandon Bell, Max Lara, T. J. Phifer and Phillip Lara. She was born in Vanderbilt to George and Manuela Cavazos and had been a long-time resident of Itasca. She had been employed for many years by the Itasca School as a cafeteria worker. She was preceded in death by her husband of 33 years, Henry Lara; parents; four sisters; and one brother. Survivors include: 10 children, Adela Puente and husband, Manuel, Henry Lara and wife, Rita, Chris Olvera and husband, David, Linda Lara, Angie Alcala and husband, Marcos, Sammy Lara and wife, Isabel, Paul Lara, Larry Lara and wife, Linda, Bonnie Bell and husband, Tony, and Nellie Lara Phifer; brothers; sisters; 16 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; and a host of extended family and friends.
