Charles Eugene Parker, 89, formally of Sedalia, MO, died January 19, 2010. He was born on April 11, 1920 in Kansas City, MO, the son of Robert Floyd and Carrie Louvica (Rector) Parker.
On August 12, 1939, he married Dorothy Marie Watson in Sedalia; she preceded him in death in 1970. Together, they had 6 children. He then married Alberta McNiece (White) Gunter on May 13, 1972 in Sedalia; she preceded him in death in 2006.
He was a WWII veteran, with the 517th Air Bourne Army Paratroopers, was a member of the Ararat Shriners Clown Unit, VFW of Sedalia, Independence Masonic Lodge, Eastern Star, and the Scottish Rite. He owned Gene's Optical in Independence and Raytown.
He was preceded in death by his parents; 2 brothers, Ralph and Lee Parker; 1 granddaughter, Jean Leslie Bierman; and 1 great grandson, William Ray Heaton.
He is survived by 5 daughters and 1 son, Judy Bierman (Don) of Platte City, MO, Donna Slaughter of Arkansas, Sandy Reynolds (Bob) of Overland Park, KS, Debbie Kelley (Mike) of Stover, MO, Hope Westfall (Mike) of Olathe, KS, and Wayne Parker (Jean) of Olathe, KS; he has 17 grandchildren and 38 great grandchildren; 2 sisters, Mary Boyer and Patricia Fender both of Lee's Summit, MO; and many nieces and nephews and friends.
Visitation will be from 11am-12pm, Saturday, January 23, 2010 at Floral Hills Funeral Home, followed immediately by funeral services. Burial will be in Crown Hill Cemetery, Sedalia, MO at 1pm, Saturday, January 30, 2010.
