Mrs. Emily Asbury, who fell Wednesday afternoon and broke her hip, passed away Sunday morning, August 16 at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Claudia Glahn, at Hagers Grove, being 88 years, 1 month and 10 days old at the time of her death. Mrs. Asbury fell in the kitchen and lay for two hours before neighbors heard her call for help.
Mrs. Glahn, who was visiting her son, Webster, in California at the time of the accident, returned home Saturday.
Emily J. Long, daughter of Reason S. and Eliza A. Thomas Long, was born in New Haven, Nelson county, Ky., July 7, 1848. She moved when 4 years old with her parents to Iowa and to Macon county in 1869. She was married in Macon county Jan. 8, 1873 to Geo. W. Asbury. She resided in Macon and Shelby counties her entire married life and with her daughter, Mrs. Claudia Glahn, most of the time since her husband's death 22 years ago.
Three daughters were born to this union, Mrs. Cora A. Glahn, Palo Alto, Calif., Clara M., who died at the age of 8 years, and Mrs. Claudia Glahn, Hagers Grove. Besides these two daughters, five grandchildren, Nolen Glahn, Sausalito, Calif.; Alta Campbell, Palo Alto, Calif.; Raymond and Wilbur Glahn, Clarence; and Daniel W. Glahn, Santa Monica, Calif., and two great grandchildren, Owen Lee Glahn, Clarence; and Patsy Campbell, Palo Alto, Calif., and one brother, Samuel Long, Clarence, 84 years old, are left to mourn her loss.
She became a Christian at Bethel Christian church soon after she was married while Rev. Wright was minister. She later moved her membership to the Clarence Christian church when she moved with her husband to her home just north of Clarence.
Funeral services were held Tuesday morning at 10 o'clock at Bethel Christian church, conducted by Rev. Rolla G. Sears. Burial in the church cemetery.
