Lois M. Gaines, 75, of Oberlin, passed away Thursday, February 4, 2010, at EMH Regional Medical Center in Elyria, surrounded by her family. She was born January 31, 1935, in Oberlin. She worked as an administrative assistant for Oberlin College for 43 years, retiring in 2002. Lois was a member of the quilting club and enjoyed bowling, swing, quilting, reading and spending time with her grandchildren.

She is survived by her daughter, Patricia S. Bell, of Oberlin; sons Michael G. Gaines, Robert Tony A. (Linda) Gaines and Eric D. (Vicky) Gaines, all of Oberlin; 8 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; and sister Patricia A. (Clarence) James, of Ellicott City, Md.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Rodman Douglas and L. Adora (Rowland) Godette.

Visitation will be Wednesday, February 10, 2010, from 6-8 p.m. at the Cowling Funeral Home, 228 S. Main St., Oberlin. Funeral services will be Thursday, February 11, 2010, with A.G. Miller, of House of the Lord Church in Oberlin, presiding. Interment will be at Westwood Cemetery.
