Noel served as a Technician Fifth Grade, 1125th Military Police Company, U.S. Army Air Forces during World War II.

He resided in Beltrami County, Minnesota prior to the war.

He enlisted in the Army Air Corps on January 7, 1942 at Fort Snelling, Minnesota. He was noted, at the time of his enlistment, as being employed as a Driver and also as Single, without dependents.

Noel died in the "Line Of Duty" when the C-47A "Sure Skin" (#42-23860), on which he was a passenger, apparently caught fire and exploded for an unknown reason and crashed in the San Pedro Bay close to Leyte during bad weather.

This crash occurred 4 days after World War II had ended.

The entire crew of 4 and all 26 passengers perished on this flight.
