Colon, Mich. — Ruby R. Kauffman, age 86, of Colon, passed away Friday, Feb. 5, 2010, at the home of her daughter Elaine in Colon.
Ruby was born April 19, 1923, in Elkhart, Ind., a daughter to the late Walter O. and Luella (Fink) Pletcher.
On Aug. 12, 1949, she married Jacob (Jake) A. Kauffman in Elkhart, Ind., and he preceded her in death on Dec. 23, 1991.
Ruby had lived in Colon since 1961 coming from Indiana. She was a homemaker and had also worked at the M & M Grill in Colon for many years. She loved and enjoyed her family, especially her grand and great-grandchildren.
Ruby is survived by two daughters, Elaine (David) Hess of Colon and Lois (Duwayne) Eby of Three Rivers; six sons, Dale E. (Marcia) Kauffman of Colon, George W. (Debbie) Kauffman of Union, Roger J. Kauffman, Michael J. Kauffman, Robert L. (Anna) Kauffman, all of Colon and Glen R. Kauffman of Quincy; 26 grandchildren; and 15 great-grandchildren and two nephews.
She was preceded in death by an infant granddaughter, Lori Ann Kauffman; and one brother, Glen Pletcher.
The family will receive relatives and friends on Tuesday, from 2-4 p.m. and 6-8 p.m. at the Schipper Funeral Home LTD. in Colon. Funeral services celebrating the life of Ruby R. Kauffman will be Wednesday at 11 a.m. from the Funeral Home with Mr. David J. Farrell officiating. Burial will follow at Locust Grove Cemetery in Findley. If desired the family suggest memorials be made in memory of Ruby to the Hospice of Sturgis. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home.
