A NINTH AIR FORCE SERVICE COMMAND UNIT, E. T. W ~~ The promotion of Euguen F. King, Jr., 28, husband of Mrs. Mildred H. King of 571 Central Avenue, Hapeville from the grade of corporal to that of sergeant has recently been announded by headquarters of this division supporting Ningh Air Force Service Command Unit commanded by Lieutenant Colonel Earle B. Dunning.

Sgt. King, son of Mr. and Mrs. Eugene F. King, Sr., of the same address, attended Russell High School in East Point, graduating in 1934 and was employed as a fire insurance underwriting by the Continental Ins. Company, of Atlanta, prior to his entry into the armed forces in the middle of 1942. He departed for overseas duty in the middle of 1943, working in the administrative capacity with the Ninth Air Force Service Command Unit, taking charge of all officers records.

The Ninth Air Force Service Command, with which Sgt. King is identified, acts as a gigantic invisible hand, supporting Ninth Air Force medium and fighter bombers on their dangerous and hazardous missions over enemy-occupied territory. It supplies guns, ammunition, spare parts, tools, oxygen, clothing and highly skilled technicians. It maintains equipment at the highest peak of operational efficiency and repairs all battle damage for of the Allied Expeditionary Air Force.

Mr. Eugene F. King of Chamblee died September 22, 1994. Mr. King was a member of Embry Hills United Methodist Church. He is survived by his wife of 53 years, Mildred B. King, daughter, Mrs. Carol King Garrett, grandson, Kevin Eugene Garrett of Chamblee, sister, Mrs. Estelle K. Collar, Austell. Graveside services will be held Saturday, September 24 at 3'clock at Westview. Rev. Richard Lumpkin officiating. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society, 46 5th. St., NE, Atlanta, GA 30308. H. M. Patterson & son, 4550 Peachtree Road.
