Obituary contributed by Phyllis Pesch, the niece of Alta Kilpatrick:

KILPATRICK: The home of Bro. and Sister Kilpatrick became the scene of a fearful tragedy on the evening of the 14th, when their residence was destroyed and Alta, their 12 year-old daughter was fatally burned, as the result of an exploding oil can. Only a few weeks earlier, I had baptized and received this sweet child into the Church. The scene at her death-bed was touching in extreme. She had been carried to the home of her grandparents, where she spent her last hours, conversing with sorrowful friends and relatives. She seemed willing to go and said she wanted all to join her in that bright world above, asking those present to sing "Are you washed in the blood of the Lamb?" The few that could command their voices sang. Afterward, they sang "When the roll is called up yonder," and after kissing her parents and others good-bye the blood washed soul of this sweet Christian child winged its way through the gates into the City of God to answer the roll call of eternity. How wonderful the grace of God sustaining the spirit of this child through the anguish of smoke and flame and death, and bringing her safely to that home where no pain or death can enter, and where tears shall all be wiped away! Alta was a niece of Bro. J.C. Cameron, of this conference, and a grandchild of our beloved Bro. D.M. Cameron and wife, noted for their devotion and faithfulness to our Church. Our love and sympathy are extended to all, especially the bereaving parents. The funeral was preached at the Church on the 22nd of Oct.
