OBITUARY
LOGAN, UTAH - Gerald J. Alder, 72 years old passed away Feb 2, 2010 at his home surrounded by loved ones after fighting a courageous battle with cancer. Jerry was the ninth child of eleven born to Fred and Estella Alder.

Jerry was raised on a farm in Providence UT. He graduated from South Cache HS in 1955 were he was involved in FFA. He joined the army in 1958 and was sent overseas to Osberg, Germany. After returning home he met the love of his life Sandra Cottle and they were married Sept 21, 1962. They were later sealed in the Logan Temple for time and all eternity.

They were blessed with three children. He raised his children in Paris Idaho and then later built his home in Young Ward, UT.

Jerry was very fortunate of making a living in the occupation that he loved of farming and ranch work. Even in his last few days he wanted to go feed his cows. He loved horses and owned and trained race horse for 47 years.

He is survived by his wife of 47 years Sandra Cottle, three kids Zane (Lisa) Alder, Teresa (Cory) Shaffer, Neal (Christa) Alder, 7 granddaughters and one on the way, one grandson, and one great grandson, three brothers and 5 sisters Orma Jean (Fellger) Johnson, Tyra (Duard) Chugg, Ferd (Leon) Alder, Drew (Howard )Richardson, Alan(Jean) Alder, Dixie(Devon) Doney, Karl (Claudia) Alder, Gloria (Kent) Olsen Preceded in death by his parents Fred & Estella Alder, Brother Paul(Norma) Alder, ado Alder and stillborn baby son. A special thanks to CNS Hospice for their loving care of both Jerry and his family.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 am on Monday Feb 8th in the Young Ward, Chapel 2394 West 2200 South. A viewing will be held at Allen-Hall Mortuary, 34 East Center Street in Logan on Sunday from 6 to 8 p.m., and Monday from 9:30 - 10:30 AM before the services. Interment will be in the Providence Cemetery.
