The daughter of Peter Elderbert Bates and Nellie Frances Mikel, Mary married Louis Anderson Dunn on 29 Aug 1905 in Carrollton, Carroll County, Missouri.

He worked as a farm hand, and they lived in Carroll County. They were the parents of at least 4 children, although 2 died before 1910.

Their marriage ended in divorce in the 1910's.

Funeral services were conducted at 11 a.m. on the morning of 03 Feb 1965 at Prinster-Baue Funeral Home on North Kingshighway in St. Charles, Missouri.
