Services for Willie "Bill" Brooks Jr., of Monticello, are 2 p.m., Saturday, Jan. 23, at Bethel Baptist Church in Monticello with burial in New Hebron City Cemetery. Wilson Funeral Home in Monticello is in charge of arrangements.

Visitation is Saturday from 11 a.m. until the time of the service at the church.

Mr. Brooks, 83, died Jan. 20, 2010, at St. Dominic-Jackson Memorial Hospital in Jackson. He was born in Winnsboro, La., on May 17, 1926, to Willie Lee Brooks Sr. and Oma Rae Williams.

He was a retired master mechanic in construction work. He was a U.S. Navy veteran of World War II. He was a Mason and a Shriner at the New Hebron Lodge. He was a member of Bethel Baptist Church.

Preceding him in death were his parents; his brother, Happy Raymond Brooks; his sisters, Gwendolyn "Gwen" Jeamaine Brooks Pettit and Patricia 'Ann' Brooks Picou; a granddaughter, Laura Jeamaine Fuller Duke, and a grandson, Wesley Dale Canterberry.

Survivors are his wife, Anna Mary Mascaro Brooks, of Monticello; his sons, Willie Lee "Billy" Brooks and Thomas David Brooks, both of Wesson, Dennis Andrew Brooks, of Monticello, and Jeffery Wayne Brooks, of Ruth; his daughters, Melanie Jeanine Brooks Fuller, of New Hebron, and Anna Ruth Brooks Canterberry, of Monticello; his brother, Jerry Andrew Brooks, of Silver Creek; his sister, Mary Marguerite Brooks Atkinsson, of New Hebron; and his 18 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren.
