Ernest P. Shelby of Benton, formerly of Cairo, Ill., died Saturday, April 9, 1994. He was 82.
He retired in 1974 after 41 years with Federal Barge Line as chief engineer. At Cairo he was a member of First Christian Church, Grand Mason's Lodge 237 where he was a 32nd Degree Mason and Elks Club 651.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Jessie Duncan Shelby.
He is survived by a sister, Mary M. Casey of Benton, and several nieces and nephews.
Graveside service will be at 1 p.m. Tuesday at Greenlawn Cemetery in Villa Ridge, Ill., near Cairo with the Rev. Richard Pigg officiating. Arrangements are by Ballard Funeral Home.
The family will be at 506 Denton in Benton. Memorials may be made to First United Methodist Church, 200 N. Market St., Benton, AR 72015.
