George Thomas Awalt was born 21 July 1883 in Eastland County, Texas. He was the son of James Griffin Awalt (1860-1909) and Mary Lou Jinnings (1866-1903) who are buried at the Methodist Central Cemetery, Eastland Co., Texas.
George married Willie Belle Clayton, d/o George Clayton and Sarah Sallie Mobley. George Thomas and Willie Belle Awalt were farmers in Eastland County, Texas.
They had the following children:
1. Robert Harvey "Harv" Awalt 1904-1989 m Ellie Claire Skinner.
2. Gladys May Awalt 1907-1997 m John Burkholder.
3. Elton Russell Awalt 1909-2002
4. Sidney Awalt 1914-1956
5. George Thomas "GT" Awalt 1918-1998
6. Jack Awalt 1921-1937

Leaving his family behind in Texas, George T. Awalt went to Malaga, Eddy, N. M. for work where he died of T. B. The death certificate says he is buried in this cemetery, but no grave has been found.

Sidney, G.T. and Jack went to the Good Fellows children's home in Corsicana, Nevarro, Texas after their father died and mother could not care for them any longer. Their mother later married Mr. Poplin and had J.R.
