She was born on September 7, 1917 in Houghton, SD, to Hugh and Clara Jones, both of whom preceded her in death.
Helen is survived by her children, Maureen (Jim) Cook of Valparaiso, William Larry (Ingrid) Ryan, Jr., of Chesterton, Mary Helen (Ryan) Cook of Cincinnati, Dennis (Ruthann) Ryan of Bartlettt, IL, Michael (Laura) Ryan of Valparaiso, Kevin (Amanda) Ryan of Chesterton, and Robert Ryan of Elkhart. She is also survived by her eighteen grandchildren, twenty great-grandchildren, her cousin, Alberta Shingler of Black Duck MN, along with many nieces and nephews.
Helen is also preceded in death by her husband, William Ryan in 1991, her daughter, Therese in 1989, and by her brother, Raymond.
Helen was a member of Saint Patrick Catholic Church in Chesterton. She loved to cook, was very charitable and delivered Meals on Wheels for many years. She also supported many Indian reservations in South Dakota.
Funeral services will be held on Monday, February 29, 2016, at 10 a.m., at Saint Patrick Catholic Church, 638 N. Calumet Rd., Chesterton, with Father James Meade officiating. Burial will follow at Saint Patrick Cemetery in Chesterton.
The family will receive friends on Sunday, February 28, 2016, from 2 until 6 p.m. at White-Love Funeral Home, 525 S. 2nd St., Chesterton. There will be a Rosary recited at 5:30 p.m. on Sunday at the funeral home.
Memorial donations may be made to Saint Patrick School and the Share Foundation, 6357N 300 E, LaPorte, IN 46350.
