Dorothy Koenig Lehmann on Wednesday, January 27, 2010, at age 91 years. Born on August 29, 1918 in New Orleans, Lehmann lived since 1924 in St. Francis Xavier parish in Metairie. Beloved wife of the late Merlin John Lehmann, daughter of the late Dorotha Martha Hayes and Carl William Koenig. Mother of Cheryl L. Hano, Linda L. Sanders, Jean Lehmann, and Burt Lehmann. Mother-in-Law of Elliot Hano, Frank Sanders, James Hooton, and Deborah Durel Lehmann. Grandmother of William (and wife Cindy Yoes) Hano, Brett Hano, Michael Sanders, and Renee Sanders. Great Grandmother of Nicholas and Joshua Sanders. Sister of the late Hazel Koenig Deason and the late Ludwig Carl Koenig. The family would like to give special thanks to home care providers Dean Winship and Joy Ruiz, and to Harmony Hospice. Lehmann served for many years as President of American Legion Auxiliary Unit 175 and Veterans of Foreign War Post 6640 Ladies Auxiliary and Cabonne 1522, Orleans Salon 114 - 8&40. President, Treasurer, and Secretary of various St. Francis Xavier organizations: Sanctuary Society, Bon Temps, and St. Margaret's Daughters. Received St. Francis Xavier Senior Citizen Award (twice), American Legion Community Service Volunteer of the Year, and V.A. Hospital Service Award. Volunteer at the VA Hospital, Waldon Nursing Home, and N.O. Home and Rehab Center. Relatives and friends of the family, also members of St. Francis Xavier Church, retirees of NOPSI, American Legion Post 175, 8&40, Metairie Legion Club, LA-Met Carnival Club, Veterans of Foreign War Post 6640, St. Francis Xavier Holy Name Society, Bon Temps are invited to attend the Funeral Mass at St. Francis Xavier Church, 444 Metairie Road, on Saturday, January 30, 2010 at 11 a.m., with visitation prior beginning at 9:30 a.m. Interment will follow in Greenwood Cemetery.
