Anna Perine was the daughter of George Augustus and Phebe Ann "Perine" Tuthill, who were both natives of New York. By 1840, they had settled in the Spring Hill area of Mobile. Anna Perine married Jacob Granville Mordecai, son of Dr. Solomon and Caroline "Waller" Mordecai, on April 24, 1867. They were the parents of three daughters, Armantine Granville [Sadler], Libbie Adele, who died as an infant, and Ellen Jacqueline [Garrett].
