son of Samuel H. Harris - Sarah Whitley

Samuel H. Harris was a stranger in Graham. He committed carbolic acid suicide and no one in town knew anything about him.

Inquest for S.H. Harris shows he was about 62 years old. He was 5 feet, 9 inches tall with dark hair, turning gray. He weighed about 160 pounds. Mr. Harris was living at the Dolman Hotel in Graham. He died by taking poison by his own hands. Mr. Harris was sitting on the side of his bed when found by Mr. J.J. Gallaher, the owner, and manager of the hotel. He found him about 5:00 pm with a bottle sitting on the table beside the bed. C.A. Russell, the undertaker stated Mr. Harris' appearance revealed he had taken some form of poison. Information in his pockets suggested he was divorced and an insurance agent at one time.
