Earl Botkins, 79, of 1517 East Washington, Kirksville, passed away unexpectedly at 3:50 Sunday morning (May 13, 1990) in Grim-Smith Hospital.

Born November 12, 1910 in Chariton, Iowa, he was the son of Arthur and Lona Willows Young Botkins. On October 6, 1938 in Lancaster, he married Regina Martin who survives. Also surviving are one daughter, Mrs. George (Ella May) Dingledine of East Peoria, Illinois, one grandson, Butch Dingledine, Marquette Heights, Illinois and one granddaughter, Joanne Dingledine of Morgan, Illinois. He was preceded in death by his parents.

As an infant, Mr. Botkins moved with his parents to Kirkvsille where he received his education. During his earlier adult years, Mr. Botkins was employed with a paper mill. Later he was employed with Rod Smith Chevrolet in Quincy, Illinois until his retirement in 1979. At that time he and his wife moved to Kirkvsille to make their home.

Mr. Botkins was a member of the Fraternal Order of Eagles in Fort Madison, Iowa and the Kirksville Loyal Order of the Moose No. 1751.

Funeral services will be held at two o'clock Tuesday afternoon (May 14, 1990) in the Church of God (Holiness) 1501 North Elson, under the direction of the Travis Funeral Chapel. The Rev. Archie Cooper will conduct the services. Music will be provided by Harold Moyer, singing, "One Day At A Time" and "Amazing Grace." He will be accompanied by Dianthe Cable, organist. Burial will be in Highland Park Cemetery.

Casket bearers will be: Bud Lancaster, Butch Lancaster, Dean Ditmars, Larry Ditmars, John Ditmars, and John Gray.

Friends may call at the Church of God (Holiness). The family will receive friends from seven to nine o'clock this evening (Monday May 15, 1990) in the church.
