Delia married Samuel "Tyson" Fitzwater on 13 Feb 1882 at Saints Peter and Paul Catholic Church in Alton, Madison County, Illinois. He established a farm on Craig Road in Creve Coeur, St. Louis County, Missouri that same year.
She was a homemaker, and he was known primarily as a fruit grower. They were the parents of 2 babies who died in infancy, and they adopted 1 child.
Over the years, Delia sometimes took trips with her sister, Mary Tomlinson, and Mary's children. From August to early September of 1894, they visited with friends and relatives in Canada for a month.
Delia lived until 1933. She was ill for several weeks before she died from complications related to diabetes on her 51st wedding anniversary. At the time of her death, she was 76 years, 11 months and 15 days old. She still owned a considerable amount of real estate in Madison County, Illinois.

Funeral services began at 8 a.m. on the morning of 16 Feb 1933 at the family home in Creve Coeur. From there, they proceeded to St. Monica's Catholic Church. Baumann Brothers Funeral Home in Overland,Missouri was in charge of arrangements.
